At Top Of The Lake Guiding every adventure is tailored to you – your goals, pace, experience and the people you are travelling with. The best way to get started is to share a few details about what you are hoping for, and we will shape something together.

You are welcome to get in touch whether you are ready to book or just exploring ideas for hunting, fly fishing, hiking or scenic and heli adventures around Glenorchy and the wider Otago/Southland region.
You are welcome to contact us in the way that suits you best.

We are often in the hills or on the river. If we miss your call, please leave a voicemail or send a text or email and we will get back to you as soon as we have reception, usually within 24–48 hours.
Please share as much or as little detail as you feel comfortable with. The more we know about your group, experience, hopes and any health or accessibility considerations, the better we can design a safe and enjoyable adventure for you.

Your information is treated with care and respect. We will never share your details without your consent, except where required by law.

I understand that the details I provide will be used only to respond to my enquiry, in line with the Privacy Policy.
Here is what you can expect once you send through an enquiry:

1. We review your details carefully. We look at your preferred activities, dates, group size, fitness and any health or accessibility information so we can plan safely and well.

2. We get in touch with you. We will reply by email (or phone if requested) to answer your questions, suggest options and check anything that is unclear. This usually happens within 24–48 hours, depending on field time and reception.

3. We shape your adventure together. We will discuss possible locations, style of trip (for example more relaxed, more technical, more family-focused), and outline pricing and inclusions.

4. We confirm dates and details. Once you decide to go ahead, we confirm your dates, approximate timings, meeting points and what to bring. At this stage we will also talk through payment and any deposit required.

5. Final safety checks and forms. Before you join us we will make sure your Health & Safety Disclosure form is completed and that any key medical or wellbeing information is up to date so we can look after you properly on the day.
Your safety and wellbeing are central to how we guide. Before any adventure, each participant needs to complete a Health & Safety Disclosure form so we understand relevant medical history, medications, injuries, mental health or other factors that could affect the day.

You can read more about how we manage risk and care for guests on our Health & Safety page, and you are welcome to download and complete the forms in advance so there is more time to enjoy the mountains, rivers and valleys once you arrive.
Do you offer private or shared trips?
Most of our adventures are run as private trips for individuals, couples, families or small groups. This allows us to tailor the pace, challenge level and style of the day to you. If you are interested in joining a shared trip, let us know in your enquiry and we can advise what may be possible.

Are there age limits?
We welcome a wide range of ages and abilities. Some adventures are more suitable for children or older guests than others. Please tell us the ages in your group and we will recommend options that are safe and enjoyable for everyone.

How fit do I need to be?
We guide everything from gentle-paced scenic experiences through to more demanding hunting, hiking and alpine trips. If you are unsure, share a little about your current fitness and any injuries or health concerns, and we will suggest adventures that match.

Can you design a custom itinerary?
Yes. Many guests combine hunting, fly fishing, hiking and scenic or heli experiences, or add in field-to-table elements and time for photography. Let us know your ideas and we can discuss what is realistic within your time frame and budget.

How do you handle privacy and confidentiality?
Your personal information and anything you share with us, including health, wellbeing or personal circumstances, is handled with discretion. We do not share guest details or stories without permission, and we follow our Privacy Policy obligations.
